FDR didn’t just pull us out of the Depression. He fundamentally altered economic/banking/political rules so it wouldn’t happen again. Several decades ago we started dismantling some of the very protections that FDR created, so crony capitalists could party more. And here we are.

Maybe this new decade drought with economic peril will push the country into another new new deal and not just a green one.

It was the unions, communists, anarchists, and socialists who pushed FDR to create the New Deal. The New Deal was a comprise between capital and the state and labor. The ruling class could see revolution coming. It was happening all over the world.

FDR saved capitalism, an inherently non-sustainable economic system. Day one FDR's new deal day two the ruling class went to work. The rest is history. Only socialism, not Democratic Socialism which is a band aid, can save us.

And here we'll stay, sadly

FDR pushed through a horrible mix of mostly counter productive policies that almost certainly made the depression last longer than it otherwise would have.

Nothing could prevent a biological warfare against the rising power that happens to make most if not all of our stuff and forking our bills.

Yes, and don't forget that specific leaders were chosen by the Democratic establishment for their willingness to dismantle those protections... Bill Clinton being the most obvious...
