When you do an intervention with an addict, you make it clear to the person that if they do not attend to the problem then they could die. That’s not “spreading fear;” it’s “telling truth.” And at times like these there are truths that desperately need to be said.

I'm not saying you can't speak truth to a person in rank denial. I am saying is that you can't bully them into recovery. Another person just like them can identify with their pain and lift them out of their suffering but an outsider can't do it. That's how AA works Peer 2 peer.

Humanity needs to end the addiction to consumer capitalism, which is 100% corrupt to the core. Morally corrupt, and physically corrupting the planet. We need to live for more than mere greed and OCD hoarding. (1%, that means YOU)

Exactly! So many Americans are addicted to the chemicals produced by the endocrine system. A chemical cocktail 🍸 provided by our fight or flight response that causes the sympathetic nervous system to take over. #Fear #TimeToBreath

I was a substance abuse counselor for a couple of yrs b4 retiring from the USAF, & soon realised I'd rather be in combat then deal with most substance abusers.

'Mericans don't care about no truth. Guns and obesity.

This is life or death. And interestingly it’s facing this truth that gives us power. We’re out of the shadows of denial. Now, we have options. We can respond rather than react.

Amen! To continue living in fear of knowing the Truth, ourselves (same thing) is what should scare every American and human being on this planet. 🙏🏻

Explaining to addicts that it's there social/economic environment that's killing them actually gives them something to work on. Our addiction treatment programs here just teach addicts that it's them who are sick which is why it fails so often.
