The thing about a crisis is that it makes you drop a lot of ultimately unimportant preoccupations within the first 10 minutes. Can make you drop into a deeper place within yourself...making you more open to meaning, to literature, to art, to truth, to other people, to compassion.

Alt-take re: crisis: for (many of) those of us who’ve spent all/most of our lives in crisis - childhood poverty, insufficient bootstraps, crippling debts - it’s really not much scarier than our every single day. Y’all down here in it with us now.
