You said it, Ana. Character assassination is now the preferred way to rid the system of anyone deemed inconvenient to its functioning. What’s ironic is how often journalist/assassins are so duped they think they’re revealing truth rather than doing the bidding of their masters.

Alas. And it “sells newspapers,” as they say. Negative campaigning and “horse race” results coverage are anti democratic - by actively discouraging people from voting. Voters are being taught that “all candidates are corrupt anyway” or “my vote doesn’t matter.”
