Many people have asked me what it was like during the AIDS crisis. It was much like this. And also like during that crisis, this gives all of us an opportunity to determine who we really are. We can face this thing with fear, or we can face this thing with love. It’s our choice.

This is nothing likes the AIDS crisis. AIDS was/is a STD among a high risk group with a very high mortality rate. There still is no cure for AIDS although it is much more manageable today. Hopefully a cure will come.

Yes! It's time to pull together and take care of one another!

Y'all are being hyper specific and shitting on a woman who did a lot of good, & still continues to, for the lgbtq community. Give it a rest. Fear and panic and hate exploded then as it's exploding now. She never said numbers were similar, she's asking us to come together. Lord.
The AIDS 'crises' was nothing like the current situation. 99.99% of the population knew they had no chance of getting HIV.

Marianne, I love you and I’m grateful for the work you did during the HIV/AIDS epidemic and I was one of those persons that benefited greatly from your participation, but this... is NOTHING like the hell I went through 30 years ago! And yes, “Love” is ultimately what saved me!
