Uh, maybe we should cancel that order for 100 B-21 Raiders all equipped with nuclear bombs at the rate of $560M each, and use the money instead to pay for free testing and coronavirus treatment... We need to change our thinking about all this, do it quickly, and speak it loudly.

The issue I have with this is if we do scale back our military spending other countries will inevitableh fill the void of global military hegemonies. Do you really want China to control global trade routes because we didn’t make aircraft carriers to exert our will in the Pacific?

National defence = medicare+paid sick leave+broad testing+transparent, collaborative, inclusive planning+materials to build or set up infection control hospitals.

Yes, we need to change our thinking about this. But remember, these warplanes are being built not just for profit, but for jobs in the congressional districts of those who voted the money. This is welfare not just for corporations but for workers. Welfare with a political twist.

Establishment politicians won't do it. Their MIC overlords won't let them.

Maybe if you were President you could make that decision. Oh yeah that’s right, you ran and couldn’t even get 1% in your own party

You think a war isn't coming with this? What do you think our friend Kim Jong-Un is thinking right now? His trigger finger must be so itchy.
