It’s like the entire culture has lost all impulse control. People go right for the biggest judgement, quick snarky comment, dumbest edit and meanest possible take on things. All this when depth and reflection, mercy and patience are the characteristics we need more than anything.

It has. We’re moving too fast without the ability to feel what may or may not be our consequences. Can’t give up on peace tho.

I overheard 2 men at the gym debate the seriousness of the coronavirus. I waited for it to turn adversarial & contentious, but they spoke respectfully & really seemed to be listening to each other. After my initial relief & gratitude, I thought how sad that I expected worse.

Not even a little bit like an entire culture loosing impulse control. Have you seen 'The Purge'?

True. Even with the best intentions to uplift the discourse, we can succumb to snark, dehumanization, us-vs-them thinking, etc. The infectious toxicity of the conversation presents a paradox: participate and risk becoming infected, or don't but lose the opportunity to influence.
