Most evolved society blends capitalism & socialism, honoring both individual freedom & care for the common good. Few countries (including ours: police and fire dept are essentially socialist) all one or the other. The market good at some things, public investment better at others

Common good = property mostly. Should be paid for with land/property taxes.

stop conflating capitalism with individual freedom. it is definitely a wrong way of framing reality.

An argument can be made that a society should take care of it's people who are in need, the problem comes in when people start ignoring personal responsibility and claiming everything they want should be taken care of by society as well.

Post Office & DMV are also examples of Govt's inability to compete with provate sector.

important nuance at stake. a socialist 'policy within a capitalist framework is not the same as advocating for a socialist government. eg: single-payer. exact cost control on pirate pharmaceutical people vs. lock everyone into the same system without option.
