What climate change, coronavirus and other issues make clear is this: humanity will not thrive in the 21st-century unless we evolve beyond a “me first” or “me only” mentality. We need to shift economically, politically, and socially from an economic to a humanitarian bottom line.

The Golden Rule doesn’t mean “Do under others as you would have others do unto you” because they just might. “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you” because they definitely will, and even if they don’t then someone else will. You become generous out of self-interest

Yes...and the father who took his younger daughter to a dance at a school in Clayton Missouri after being told to self quarantine because the older daughter is presumptive positive case of COVID19 was selfish as hell! Clayton is upper class full of high paid lawyers and CEOs.

Fortunately, the REAL First World countries (something that the US stopped being years ago for the majority of its people) already solved this issue and are thriving. The US will continue its slide as a former great nation while rest of the world moves on w/o a backward glance.

That was the way Mao sold China on Communism & the Cultural Revolution and Fidel sold Cuba on La Revolucion. Don't conflate individuality and freedom of thought, expression & action with "me first" or "me only"

Bernie is the only candidate holding a Coronavirus press conference. He is the only candidate who can lead. Meanwhile Biden is contemplating top cabinet spots for vulture Wall St exec Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan and Bloomberg, who terrorized black and brown communities in NYC.

I think what is painfully clear is the complete and total lack of leadership among the people in Washington. And the Trump presidency has shown us that it's not just on the Republican side but the Democratic side as well. Nobody is stepping up to the plate. Nobody.

We are selfish and competitive by nature. The majority of people do not wish to sacrifice their own fortune for a stranger they do not know. That's why capitalism thrives and socialism fails.
