Tens of millions of Americans have no real hope of participating in a vibrant economy. They live each day to serve the economy; the economy does not serve them. They survive but they do not thrive. Healthcare and access to higher education could literally be a lifeline for them.

Honest question: how will access to education without changing who controls the economy help people? If the capitalist class still has control, why would more higher education give people opportunity? People with degrees already have no opportunity. Workers need control first.
