I look at thousands and thousands of young people of every color, ethnicity, sexuality etc., all excited about the possibility of political change and it makes me very happy. Other people look at that same phenomenon and feel threatened. That is the real contest, the subtext here

The very of America is so audacious - that everyone is created equal by God and therefore should have equal power and opportunity - that every generation has to play out the age-old contest between royalism and democracy. The contest is re-enacted in every era. Now it’s our turn.

Obviously I left out a word in that tweet. It was supposed to say “the very idea of America.” Sorry!

I don't feel threatened. I believe if Bernie (love him too) is the nominee, Trump will be re-elected because Bernie will be painted and perceived, not just as a socialist, but as a communist. #DumpTrump2020

At this point beating Trump with a coalition is more important. First you win and then you go for large structural change. Bernie can’t win.

Change into socialism/Communism ? Really ? Who can be excited about that. Go and live in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Havana.

The comments here crack me up! Yep, we’re just old and fear change lol. Nothing to do with the fact that some of us make baskets of cash under capitalism.

Joe helped bring healthcare to millions and was instrumental in getting gay marriage passed.

I want that same kind of change. I see the same problems. My concern now is whether Bernie and his team are so set in stone that they wont be open to considering different solutions, too. Ones that include not just the working class but ALL people, regardless of job status. 1/
