The American people have been trained over the last few decades to expect too little. Universal healthcare & easy access to higher education is what the citizens in a prosperous society should expect and do expect in other countries. It’s part of our “right to pursue happiness.”

There are literally hundreds of thousands of scholarships, grants & employer-funding options for people that want to attend college in the US. But like anything else in life it involves choices, and sometimes compromises. Why should people that don't attend pay for those that do?

Because the entire economy is better off when more people are educated. It allows more people to participate in it, which is the best way to promote prosperity for all.

Ms Williamson yes & no. I personally might be better off but for society the question is economic-is the cost of the education I received less than the value added to society? Government is a zero sum game-money spent on unnecessary education means less spent on other priorities

And by the way, thank you for running.. sometimes we lose sight of the fact that we are humans, with human ambitions and fears and relationships. It was nice to have someone in the race that brought out that humanity, that did talk to a grander hope
Wrong, the economy is better when people possess more access to money, and are spending the money. If money serves as access tickets to good and services, everyone should possess easy access to those access tickets.
