40% of Americans couldn’t cover a $1,000 unexpected expenditure. That’s not just an economic disadvantage; it’s a source of chronic tension & anxiety. If our political establishment wants to help with the mental health crisis it might start by not leaving so many in such despair.

That is awful, and it’s why we need Medicare for all.

...and UBI, and free tuition, and fair fax rates. Economic justice isn’t some far left socialist conspiracy. It’s simply a way to embody the idea that “God gave all men the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

You see, I love all of those ideas, but I fear they’re not immediately achievable. Do you think it they should all be completed immediately or phased in gradually over, say, two decades? I know we need change, but I fear alienating people who need to vote for it.

We could begin by repealing the 2017 tax cut, which gives $.83 of every dollar to the very richest Americans. Yes it could be repealed immediately, although the middle class tax cuts should be put back in. That tax cut went into effect in one day and it can be repealed in one day

Nothing is free, Marianne. Your philosophy comes down to "I want other people to pay for what I want". It's Bread of Shame.

UBI should come before M4A, because it's money that people can choose to use for whatever they want, and will be beneficial to everyone immediately.

We muat form cooperative employee-owned businesses. Walmart is earning >$228,000 per employee and paying <$15,000 while taxpayer-funded subsidies are $158B whichreduces corp taxes from $202B to $44B (2.2%). We pay $2T (97.8%).Employee-owners can double pay and work 1/2 the hours.
