Since 1980s the main organizing principle for US public policy has been short-term corporate profits, a capitalism untethered from ethical & moral responsibility to people & planet. What we need now is a fundamental course correction from an economic to a humanitarian bottom line

Capitalism is the most ethical and moral system of economic and social orangization. Socialism has produced nothing but misery, famine and genocide for “oppressed” peoples. Too many people have slept through history class it seems these days.

I don’t know what history class you could possibly be talking about. Capitalism has been responsible for some very good things and it has also been responsible for some very bad things. The democratic socialism Bernie Sanders is talking about is the opposite of what you describe.

#RepairAmericaMovement “It is time for us to stand for humanitarian values. You don’t just improve your economy to improve the state of humanity. You improve the state of humanity, and that will bolster your economy.”

Tommy Douglas (Father of Canadian Medicare) speech from 1944, which describes @BernieSanders and the #NotMeUs movement. This describes the US Landscape we are dealing with today youtube.com/watch?v=GqgOvzUe… Would love to hear @ninaturner tell this story!
