Supporting an action that has no chance of happening is just complaining disguised as high-minded statesmanship. Actually, it's even worse than that, it's a kind of virtue signalling - "hey, look how good and righteous we are [now that we're no longer in office]."
Actually the Senate is doing exactly what it was intended to do. Provide a stop gap against radical factionalism coming out of the House. McConnell is protecting the republic. Just because votes don't go your way doesn't mean "democracy is in peril".
