Pres. Eisenhower (Republican) said “The American mind at its best is both liberal and conservative.” There are high-minded liberal principles and high-minded conservative principles; corporatists like Trump are neither. The EPA was established by a Republican (Nixon), by the way.

Private companies don’t want lax regulations. Since everything is sold globally they still have to abide by sane countries’ rules. Getting rid of regulations stifles innovation.

Senator Henry Jackson and Congressman George Miller, both Democrats, are really responsible for the EPA. They passed NEPA and convinced Nixon that an agency was needed. Nixon was persuaded and proposed the EPA. Shocking for a Republican, but the media often get the details wrong.

I think Trump voters have a consciousness of scarcity. They fear there is not enough if they have to share with immigrants, especially when they were her first., i.e, America(ns) first. Democrats need to address their fears and show how there can be enough for all to feast.
