We don’t just have a gun problem; we have a violence problem. We should have as stringent gun safety legislation as possible within purview of 2nd Amendment, but we should also have a Dept. of Peace to deal with underlying social issues that make eruption of violence inevitable.

Is not one of the key issues of ending mass killings to hold every state to the key focus of the 2nd Amendment - to have a "system" that assures "security of a free STate"? Militia & right to bear arms were an effective "system" 240 years ago.

We have a mental/emotional health problem. It's easier to buy a gun than get mental/emotional health care services. We need better, faster, cheaper access to mental/emotional health services

We do have such a division in our government, although in recent years it's been fairly ignored. My mom worked for it for 21 years, as did a cousin. The Department of Mental Health. As for gun control, it isn't the gun that's the problem, it's the psychopath behind it.
