“If the USDA’s latest proposal is formally adopted, it would lower some requirements on the volume and variety of fruits and vegetables offered to students.” Nothing a more egregious example of putting corporate profits before people’s well-being. Write in!google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com…

A country that can afford a $738 billion defense budget but will not ensure its school children a more healthy diet is a country whose moral values are spiraling down and whose future health care costs will be spiraling up.

Take a stand for higher nutritional standards for America’s school lunches. Otherwise the standards are being lowered, and the health and productivity of our children will suffer. Email feedback@usda.gov.

Our Sect’y of Agriculture is Sonny Perdue; the USDA calls the shots re school lunches. If you think it seriously wrong that the Secretary of Agriculture would be arguing for FEWER fruits and vegetables, you’re absolutely right. The Sec of Ag is basically an agribusiness lobbyist.

Offer nutritional food. Educate. Take note of waste. And btw: How do you force kids to eat nutritious food? And what is the current definition of “nutritional” *checking date/time* because it keeps changing.
I remember when Ronald Reagan signed off on the plan to count ketchup as a vegetable in the school lunch program. The #GOP has long had a deep and abiding contempt for ordinary people (anyone not the super-wealthy).

Big corporations grow fruits and vegibles too. They tried healthy meal in L.A. and the students didn’t eat them.

IMO this is a declaration of war against our children in as much as trump & his accomplices “zero tolerance family separation policy” WE MUST NEVER FORGET our immigrant families & children who remain separated, suffering in cages! I can’t begin to describe my outrage!

This is one of those things that sounds great in theory, but didn’t work out so well in practice. Go visit one of those schools during lunch time, unannounced and without cameras, and see what kind of food the kids are given. They hate it.

Spot on Mar. French fries, pizza, & kids menu choices are why we have childhood and adult obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and more. Healthy food is medicine and we must do more to educate others. Essentially one should eat food that rots with single pronounceable ingredients.

Our schools partnered with local growers to provide the fruit and vegetables. School kids learned about every vegetable and fruit and why it helped their body. They made it fun and supported local growers at the same time.

But isn’t ketchup a vegetable?
