American citizens have been trained to expect too little from our government. The resources of this country - the best in health care, education & economic opportunity - should belong to its citizens. That's what we pay taxes for and that's what we should expect.

I like you, @marwilliamson, but if these things belong to the citizens, aren't they best kept in the hands & control of the citizens, not the government?

The govt appropriates where our tax money goes. What doesn’t go to citizens now goes - very disproportionately - to huge multinational corporations. That’s not putting money back in the hands of the people!

Agree. So the proper remedy is for gov to stop taking the citizens' $ therefore they can't misdirect it. USG should only take what is needed for what it must do & let us control & choose how to manage & direct the rest. So much good can be done, w/ love, through other means.
