The circular firing squad so endemic to the Left is deeply destructive, leaving us battered and weakened before the Right even takes a shot. Nothing plays into the hands of our opponents more than our viciousness towards one another.

According to Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence, the end is inherent in the means. If we’re hateful to each other now, we’re not going to be able to all come together in some kumbaya effort once the nominee is chosen. Anger weakens us.We can practice respectful disagreement now.

As a life-long progressive Democrat I believe much of the problem of in-fighting stems from intellectual snobbery among the (very smart) leaders of the Dem party. Disgraced VP Spiro Agnew hit the nail on the head when he called smart Dems "effete snobs."
