Elementary students on suicide watch. Public schools with "trauma rooms." Teachers having to deal with students who have overwhelming behavioral problems on a daily basis. Millions of children with severe PTSD just from living in their neighborhoods. America, we have a problem.

Millions of children live with chronic trauma, and we should rescue them no differently than if they were victims of a natural disaster. Their despair has been normalized by the political establishment. but not by me. We need a massive realignment of investment in America's kids.

We need trauma-informed education, community wrap-around services, anti-bullying, mental health services, mindfulness in schools. Every school should be a palace of learning, culture and the arts. The best way to serve America's future is by better serving our children today.

We need a US Department of Children and Youth in order to coordinate the efforts needed to provide adequate responses to the unbelievable vulnerabilities & challenges of our kids today. America has the professionals who know what to do to solve all this. I will put them to work!

We need to teach skills to these children that match the environments that they are growing up in. They come to school daily in survival mode. This does not leave a lot of room in the brain for learning when they are in fight, flight or freeze mode 24 hours a day! #Marianne2020

It's the families that need fixing - NOT more government agencies. It goes much deeper than creating some sort of program.

you need to be careful not to over emphasis treating the "at risk," children and neglecting the core issues that got them there. Prevention is better than treatment. And there was a time when is way safe for kids too do this!!

My cousin is an elementary school principal and he has been passed notes of suicide from children. The level of anxiety in a school setting is not conducive to learning. Lack of funding due to austerity measures that have never been replaced make our children suffer.

We need a US Dept of Mental Health for ALL because we can't help each other if we can't help ourselves. This may sound a little harsh, but I'm calling it like I see it...And that is, at the present moment, all of mankind is one big "mental case"!

Do an analysis on single parents, vs married parents. A stay at parent vs working parents. Make the economy better, so family structure is more supportive. I do not want the government over involved with my children.
