Rugged individualism is a good thing, a core American value that leads many people to actualize their dreams. But over the last few decades rugged individualism has too often become rugged narcissism. Our goal should be to soar AND do everything possible to help others soar too.

Cooperation is the bedrock of civilization. Cooperation is bedrock of ecosystems. Cooperation is the bedrock of security and belonging. It鈥檚 time to re-write the story of America. It鈥檚 time to acknowledge the cooperative efforts at the bedrock of this country!

Is this your pledge to donate some of your millions? Or is it a promise to have all proceeds from future book sales go to a needed cause? Is it a dedication to do anything not self-enriching? If not, it's empty words from a narcissistic hypocrite.

Exactly. It is unfortunately the case, that all too often individualism gets confused with, or used as an excuse for, egoism and narcissism. Individualism simply means that everybody is in charge of their own life. Not that you have to be a belligerent, stingy a-hole.

Don't think its a good thing at all. At its core, it leaves people behind (always poor people of color) and causes grind culture to continue to thrive. Community care is the way. Interconnectedness.
