Bill that passed the House yesterday is criminally negligent regarding the wellbeing of humanity. It throws one progressive bone: 12 weeks of paid family leave for all civilian federal workers, but it does other things that are horrifying.

I soooo agree and its so mind boggling but if china goes to space and we don't we have a bigger problem.

The real issue, as with so many things, is how we do it and who is running it. A Star Trek model where we have a space force built around exploration would be an awesome development. One built simply to expand humanity’s thirst for war to the stars? Big mistake.

Dream on, I’m afraid. A Star Trek model built around exploration is called NASA! Billions of dollars spent expanding NASA at this point might have been an exciting prospect. But the Space Force is not what this is. It’s a new branch of the US military.

NASA is not a civilian agency. Eisenhower tried to keep it as such, but that battle was lost in the early 1960s. Space is a very important issue. Don’t allow what the Military Industrial Complex is trying to turn it into to mitigate its importance.

Totally get that, Marianne. My point is we should and we must be doing the Star Trek version. Along w/new energy, peaceful space exploration is among the few endeavors w/scope & intrigue to replace war economy. It’s something the whole human family would have to work on together.
