Our country should not be run like a business; it should be run like a family. First you take care of your children and your older people, then everything else falls more easily into line. That’s what it means to move from an economic to a humanitarian bottom line.

We would first have to run our own families, like traditional families again. From the bottom up, not from the top down. The government is too wasteful with the tax payers money.

Implicit in that is that we should care for the 100s of thousands of Americans sleeping in the streets right now and the 10s of millions mired in poverty before we consider opening our borders to the 7 billion poor people around the world. We have a responsibility to our people.

To expand on this idea, please research @GeorgeLakoff "strict father model" of governance to see that we already have one, and it needs to change from abusive father to nurturing mother.
