Corporate colonialism in farming has not just hurt the farmer; it has led to the contamination of our water and the poisoning of our food. This is not just a little bit of a problem. We need a president who is not afraid to take it on.marianne2020.com/issues/food

Thanks Marianne, this is an important issue. I'm a Trumper and Pro-business but the protection of our waters and food is way overlooked.

E. coli in lettuce was cause by contaminated water. We are destroying our own health and everything around us.

Hang in there. Fan since I got to Santa Cruz. Hemp is the farmers answer if McConnell doesn't over regulate it to maintain a corporate monopoly. Same with affordable homegrown healthcare with Ganja(sanskrit). But with the DNC it isn't even an issue. Thanks for speaking out.

I submitted an op-ed to the NYTimes and the WaPo about what we are facing but sadly they chose not to run it. The title "Farming today is essentially a public service." Everyone makes money except me. You work hard, don't get paid & get in a mountain of debt things get grim

The DOJ & the Ag Committees need to determine how prices are set by the outlets and if anti-competitive practices are taking place (they are). If determined ACTION must be taken or you will see the end of small family farms. See this thread:
A month ago local growers got $.52 per lb. for yellow onions. Today we’re getting $.22. I can’t pay my bills at that price. The avg price at the grocer is nearly $2.00. I do 95% of the work to get it there. Ask your grocer why can’t they pay a fair price.

Eve and I are totally defeated and despondent. She’s trying to pay bills. Hard to do with only 4 loads sold, the price what it was 30 years ago and no money coming in. Hard to take one day at a time when things are so grim. It doesn’t have to be this way. #sad

Last night, as she struggled to pay bills, it was Eve’s turn to be upset. All I could say to her is we are in a horrible place now, point A. I believe we will eventually get to a good place, point B. We just have to get there & try to enjoy the ride best we can.

I’m looking for an absurdly wealthy benefactor to support a family onion farm. Criteria: must love farms, families and onions. Oh, and must be absurdly wealthy. Let’s make this tweet go viral folks! #onions #absurdlywealthy #sponsorafarm Retweet
