With two billionaires (both nice people, actually) spending tens of millions of dollars on TV ads, it’s time for Americans to ask whether we think the presidency should be so easily bought. If this assault on our democracy doesn’t call for a non-violent revolution then what does?

Meanwhile, there's no good reason we can't have 100% publicly funded elections, on the taxpayer dime. No reason other than Citizens United v. FEC: the SCOTUS decision that equates cold hard cash with "free speech". AKA another powdered wig decision that beggars common sense.

Make the Presidency similar to Jury Duty. An American citizen serves the role as President for a month then the next person fills the spot. By the people. All of the millions $ wasted in campaigns. Money 💰 better utilized college tuition, health care, cancer research. JC

Agreed. We will see if money talks. There should be a limit. , but then again Soros controls a lot of the world with his money , though not in office. Money buys influence...??

What does? How about a President extorting a foreign country to undercut a political rival or pardoning people the military wants tried for murder and crimes?

Blame the inability to use money more wisely, productively and constructively, on our spiritually unenlightened, dysfunctional, fear-based human egos. We still have a lot more evolving to do, only to wake up to the realization that God’s Love, not money, is meant to complete us.

No. I'm asking about the number of impoverished American communities that would benefit from an infusion of that much cash. Decent shelters with social services, hot school breakfast and lunch for hungry kids, voter education, etc etc

I am not swayed by ads, are you?

It’s better than having special interests pay for commercials like the other candidates. At least you know a billionaire is not bought.

The presidency is only bought if they win.

At least it’s not dark money, and until campaign finance reform happens, better to fight fire with fire. BTW, nobody pays people for their vote, not like in other countries where they do.
