We’re already in the habit of saying “Thank you for your service” when we meet military personnel. We should also say “Thank you for your service” every time we meet a public school teacher.

As someone who is supposedly in the mental health field, you should know better. The psychological damage done to those who have gone through war, or were even prepared to is not comparible to teachers. I know you're pandering for the teacher vote but this is insulting.
