We’re already in the habit of saying “Thank you for your service” when we meet military personnel. We should also say “Thank you for your service” every time we meet a public school teacher.

We should not think putting your life on the line and being trained to sacrifice your life for another in the face of eminent terror is the same as teaching children how to manage life . It’s demeaning to those who have died for our choices .

You’re welcome! I like that. Just bought a coat for a student who’s family apartment was on fire this week. Teachers do full service not just in classrooms. We want to do it because our of instinct. #HumanityFirst

Yeah...no. Not even close to being the same thing (although many of them certainly think it is).

Sorry Marianne, but I’m not with you on that. Given that we spend more on public education than any country on Earth—more per teacher, more per student, more per classroom, more overall—and our public schools are still among the worst of OECD countries. No participation awards.

Yes!!!! Both my parents were teachers & to this day it makes me angry 2 remember their struggles! But they wouldn’t have traded it for anything, they truly loved being in the classroom teaching their favorite subjects (Mom=Spanish Dad=History&Politics) #hugateachereveryday

It says a lot about our culture that we only thank people with guns.
