The philosophy of nonviolence, created by Gandhi for Indian Independence movement & MLKJr. in struggle for US civil rights, says purifying our hearts is a necessary part of purifying society; “the end is inherent in the means.” Hating the haters limits our power to cast out hate.

ISIS has caused immeasurable suffering & destruction; the death of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi was an important, much needed action to defeat it. Praise and thanks for the military bravery and brilliance that carried out the mission.

Peaceful behavior requires energy and commitment. Many people I have met in life have neither. Hating others as a means to self justification is their MO. Democrats are doing a great job. Even the most "progressive". They just use labels to deflect any effort at understanding.

This is very true, in order for society to improve we must all strive to be the best versions of ourselves first. When the majority of people within society act in a respectful and peaceful manner toward each other, we all reap the benefits of that.
