Responding to objections to US giving aerial support in Saudi Arabia's genocidal war in Yemen in exchange for $350B arms deal, Sec.of State Pompeo said "you can have strategic partnerships with people who do not share your values." No you can't. It just means you have no values.

Capitalism and imperialism have one value: Profit---that's what it's about, they don't give a crap about lives or environmental devastation. As long as there is imperialism, there will be no such thing as "compassionate capitalism." #RealityBites

I don't have a strong opinion on Yemen, but I think you can, and sometimes should, have strategic partnerships with people who do not share your values. For example, it was not wrong to aid Stalin in 1942-1945, was it?
"Strategic partnerships" are exactly what allowed slavery and Jim Crow to thrive in this country for generations. Can never compromise on the recognition of another's humanity.

That is a very naive take and not one that can be had by a President. It is a necessity for a country to work with other countries despite shared values or even morals.
