It's real simple. The defense industry is a huge waste of greenhouse gas emissions. The entirety is a waste of industry, transportation, and electricity. Not to mention a waste of money. All of the military-industrial complex must be converted into saving the planet.

1 - That’s a good price for one of those airplanes. 2 - Nuclear weapons are not as destructive as you think they are, five aren’t ending civilization (we and the Soviets tested hundreds of them and here we are talking on the internet). 3 - No one ever won a war with peace.
