As a person diagnosed professionally with clinical severe depression and generalized anxiety disorder. I’ve seen therapists, pastors, psychologists, and finally psychiatrists. @marwilliamson spreads such an uninformed view of mental illness. She has no background to support it.

.@marwilliamson claims that drugs psychological drugs completely numb you. Well here’s a personal statement for you to use, Marianne. I have ALWAYS continued to feel the vast spectrum of feelings you insist people are incapable of feeling when medicated.

.@marwilliamson As for the women who receive medication from their gynecologist, it’s entirely possible they don’t have access to a psychologist, therapist or psychiatrist. But gynecologists are DOCTORS who go through medical school and ARE qualified to diagnose women.

.@marwilliamson You suggest a woman with postpartum depression shouldn’t receive care from the doctor WHO KNOWS HER HISTORY BEST because they didn’t study ONLY mental health. Your views are uninformed and detrimental to people with genuine mental health problems.

.@marwilliamson Unlike yourself, I spent four years of university studying psychology and mental illness. I took psychopharmacology. You spread views from a theoretical and philosophical mindset. You are not informed enough to comment on these topics.

I have a 35 year career working with people in some of the most dire, crisis-laden moments of their lives; I think I'm "informed." I have never uttered an "anti-science" or "anti-medicine" word. Nor have I fat-shamed. Nor am I a Scientologist. Let's see, anything else today....?
