Sanford Dole was a lawyer, not a pineapple plantation owner. In fact, Dole Pineapple, started by his nephew James, didn’t exist until 1907, 14 years after the overthrow. The blame for the implementation of corporal imperialism lies with sugar plantations, namely Claus Spreckles
