This article demonstrates why we need a US Department of Children and Youth. Millions of American children are dealing with PTSD no less severe than that of veterans returning from war. They’ve been ignored for too long by our govt; they will not be by me. chicago.suntimes.com/2019/6/…

The states can handle this better than the federal government.

How about calling for a ban on the genital mutilation of all children? Not just girls!

How about calling for a ban on the genital mutilation of all children? Why is that so difficult?

van der Kolk, md, says most affected are those traumatized before 4 yrs because they miss out on brain growth, etc. Their whole self is affected. One teen on Dr Phil said, I don't have a self. I know this to be a problem with so many ramifications forever.

I have everything "trauma." Friend and I created group for high school students using adventure ed activities to reduce aspects of trauma. We had so much fun facilitating the group. Beach balls, hula hoops, ropes, milk crates, etc.

Why I support @marwilliamson #Marianne2020 "There is nothing “post” about the traumatic stress of our children when it is re-triggered every day. That is why, as president, I will..." marianne2020.com/issues/chil…

As someone who suffered childhood trauma, I can assure you the effects are devastating and lifelong - and expensive with respect to therapy. Getting help early will positively impact so many lives. I appreciate the seriousness you give this reality. ❤️
