When I was a child, we saw pictures of military parades in the Soviet Union. We were told we don’t do that, that we’re proud of the fact that we don’t do that because we don’t wish to be a militarized society. Celebrating July 4 with army tanks on the National Mall is repugnant.

Just because we didn’t show it on display doesn’t mean we aren’t one. Without a strong military our nation doesn’t exist.

Marianne, are you saying that we can't have a military parade with soldiers marching or in vehicles and their military bands playing on 4th of July? This happens every year. We can't have a Blue Angels military fighter jet flyover? Every year. I am proud of our military!

You do realize that fireworks really started as a military display too? You can NEVER EVER be commander in chief. Never. Ever.

Look, Marianne, the Marine Corp band and color guards puts on a repugnant military parade display for your hero Barak Obama, former commander in chief, right in Washington DC.

When you were 9 years old, there was a military parade for the inauguration of JFK.

Whoever told you that was ignorant of history

It's called The 4th of July, you liberals look for any reason to bash America and President Trump ... BTW: When I was a kid we went to parades celebrating the 4th of July!

And yet the US military is the most aggressive and destructive of the last 70 years. The difference between appearance and substance. Of course, Americans ARE subject to massive military propaganda at a personal level via media, TV, movies, video games and, of course, politicians
