So, I’ve been thinking about #MarrianeWilliamson. Like others, I laughed at her ridiculousness at #Demdebate. I Tweeted snark too. But, if Trump has taught us anything it’s that the presidency is not entertainment. And I think it was a mistake to treat her as a punchline.

2/ Here are some facts about #MarianneWilliamson. ✅ She’s publically advocates against taking antidepressants for postpartum depression. ✅ She’s an anti-Vaxer. ✅ She’s generally anti-science and anti-expertise, especially when it comes to medicine. This is not funny.

No, what is not funny is how some people seek to misrepresent my views. I am not anti-vaccine, I am not anti-science, I am not anti-medicine, and I have never argued against anyone getting the help that they need, pharmaceutical or otherwise, during postpartum depression.

I know it’s tough to be a woman in the public eye, and I’ve certainly had things I've said on social media taken uncharitably an unfairly. So if that’s the case, I do apologize. But this is what I am basing this statement on.

Yet you have indeed called the practice of vaccinating "Orwellian" in the past

The "anti-science" rhetoric presupposes some univocal voice of truth emanating from homogeneous systems of absolute knowledge or something. People who think that "science" refers to a universally obvious truth machine seem to be indulging in the real magical thinking.

Thanks @marwilliamson for the clarification. Lesson for us all not to accept social media at face value and do investigation ourselves. How can we help support? Also thanks to @Alyssa_Milano for speaking her truths despite what others may say. #Believe2020

Just because you are spiritual does not make you anti-science. Science is observation of the outer world, spirituality is observation of the inner world. They can and do exist together.

It's not a misrepresentation. We can see your words. Science tells us that vaccines are what can protect against the flu. Telling people otherwise is anti-vaccine and anti-science.

I want my prez to have a holistic/systems view of 'mental illness' rather than a simplistic/reductive one. MW recognizes US overmedicalization & the rush to treat adaptive symptoms of losses/mismatches, but that doesn’t mean she’s against medication if needed.
