I propose reparations as opposed to simply “race-based policies” because they carry with them an inherent mea culpa. They are an inherent acknowledgment of a wrong that has been done, of a debt that is owed, and a willingness to pay it.

This country can’t have the future that we want unless we’re willing to clean up the past.

Personally I think you should keep to writing spiritual books instead of embarrassing yourself in politics.

Who pays for the reparations? I’ve heard take $$ from the military. But that’s taxpayer money. My ancestors were busy being murdered and expelled from their homes in the Middle East at the time. Why should I pay? I’d rather create equal opportunity for everyone.

Would you then agree that us Jews should seek reparations from the Egyptians? Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? What people are owed is an equal opportunity. That’s what needs to be worked on. That’s what will improve lives for generations. Not a few bucks that won’t last past tommrw

So, how will you determine who descendent of slaves vs those of slave owners??? What about immigrants to our country after 1865... exempt from paying or receiving I assume? Do biracial folks just pay themselves? Have you really thought out this ridiculous proposition?

Thank God for you. Unfortunately every time we take 2 steps forward toward equality for everyone, we take 20 steps backwards

If you are suggesting that people who never owned slaves are obligated to pay "reparations" to people who never were slaves, you are going to lose a lot of support.

Congress having hearings today; more and more people talking about it; eventually it is bound to happen; your vision had anchored it; once in a consciousness, now an activity of consciousness; many are understanding its importance

I don’t think they get it MW!! They want to commemorate this and it just makes me sad! Then they don’t want to acknowledge Amos and Andy!! They weren’t there when I was in school and it was not a time to celebrate!! They laughed at us!!
