The principles in the Declaration of Independence are America’s mission statement, and our biggest problem is that we’ve lost our psychological & emotional connection to them. That makes us easy to distract, easy to play, easy to fool. ushistory.org/declaration/do…

Interesting, but I think the U.S. Constitution is closer to America's mission statement. The Declaration is much closer to a Dear John letter.

Some of us certainly have.

The only problem is that the original declaration said all men are created equal except the Indian who is savage.

"All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..." I believe that sums it all up! We're created equal and yet too many man-made laws create and advance an uneven society.

Thank you for the opportunity to carefully reread the Declaration of Independence. During the Revolutionary War we learned that more than temporary cooperation was needed. We learned that we could not prosper and possibly not survive unless strongly united as a single country.

The most important changes between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are these 1) pragmatism replaced idealism 2) elections and secular laws replaced divine authority. 3) Government by the People was established by the People.
@marwilliamson might make a good Secretary of Health and Human Services, BUT I saw one interview on MSNBC, and can’t take her seriously. Danielle Steele & John Grisham sell a lot of books, but that’s not qualification to be POTUS. Amateur hour is over!
