This says it all: “I heard a gunshot,” said Makai Dixon, 8, a second grader who had been training for this moment, with active shooter drills and lockdowns, since he was in kindergarten. “I’d never heard it before.” Not one American should find this acceptable. Not one of us.

It is so sad that our children have come to think of school shootings as the norm. And we as a country have not made the changes necessary to stop the violence. Our lack of political action condones it. This is an easy one - more stringent gun legislation.

I grew up in BC Canada - there were no such thing as active shooter drills in school. We had earthquake drills and emergency drills - even stranger danger drills. It’s disgusting that children are not as important as guns in 🇺🇸 . Guns are nothing compared to children for 🇨🇦

I grew up in the hood I heard gunshots frequently. So much so that I'm dull to the noise
