Automation will cause a tsunami of job destruction in the US over the next 10 to 15 years, not only blue-collar but white collar too. The amount of human devastation this will cause, on top of what is already a society riddled with despair, leads me to support Yang’s UBI proposal

It takes their power away, actually. It takes some of their revenue and gives it to the people as cash with no strings attached. UBI is best understood as power to the people.

The takeover of tech and is happening with or without UBI. UBI is one of the measures we can use to help people adapt rebuild during the transition that is coming. There are other things we should do, too, but UBI is the most fundamental, because it helps people help themselves.
