Castro’s comment was very strong, that we compensate people when their property has been taken - so why wouldn’t we compensate people when they themselves were the property? Excellent and powerful point, though “appointing a commission” can sometimes permanently shelve an issue.

It's a wonderful idea! But voluntary, right? The money comes from all those who feel passionately about it? Otherwise, that's the reason why not. People have sacrificed for their earnings. It's wrong to rob them.

The slave owners were compensated but the actual people never just compensation!! I was just watching how these black men were treated after the First World War. Shameful events in history of this young nation
