Reparations are a national emergency.

I'm asking this sincerely, not oppositionally: If you had the power to declare a national emergency for reparations tomorrow, what would you do? What would it look like?

what a huge question.

Until we can answer it, calls for reparations remain performative & not much help to folks who are legitimately suffering. Not saying that's what Clint is doing. I suspect he has something in mind. But I'm curious how different it looks than lefty polices already on the table.

There are a now few democratic presidential candidates who say they support reparations in a vague philosophical sense (Kamala, Castro). Pushing them to support H.R.40 would lock them into a tangible policy as a first step.

Although I don’t believe that @marwilliamson has a full grasp of reparations from a policy perspective, she needs to be supported in order to force reparations into the democrats’ platform.
DNC rules say that in order for me to get into the debates I will have to have 65,000 unique contributors from 20 states. Please give, even if it’s only two dollars, in order for our campaign to compete. Please spread the word! secure.actblue.com/donate/ma…

I have a grasp of the moral issue involved; articulating that is the part I feel is mine to play. I do realize $100B is way too low. I originally put on my website $200B & I realize that that should be the minimum even discussed. $500B should not be considered an outrageous idea
