It takes a complete lack of conscience for the administration to allow the human hardship produced by this shutdown to continue, a "Let them eat cake" attitude endemic not only to them but to our entire economic system. This is a pathology for us to see, to resist and to change.
Yes. Most people do not know we are a Republic.. A democracy is simple majority voting. In a country of 100 and one wins a prize, 99 can vote to take it away!
A republic is majority vote but constrained by "rules," i.e., the constitution, inalienable rights, ownership, etc.
