It takes a complete lack of conscience for the administration to allow the human hardship produced by this shutdown to continue, a "Let them eat cake" attitude endemic not only to them but to our entire economic system. This is a pathology for us to see, to resist and to change.

As a railroad worker who has been laid off several times, I feel only limited sympathy for federal employees who are temporarily off work. Unlike private sector workers, you have been guaranteed back pay for the time you lost. Trump wants to deal, want to blame.
