What does politics have to do with philosophy? Everything. Politics that doesn’t rest on the foundation of a philosophy of Truth becomes a convenient tool for a philosophy of lies. It is far too powerful a part of life to leave outside the purview of the higher mind.

Quite right. America has long been a nation rooted in simple-mindedness and perpetuated by the pursuit of greater wealth and power. We are basically modern vikings. Our culture is based on Endless War. We seek to hoard resources and exploit people for indentured servitude.

While I can’t disagree with your description of what we have become, I submit to you that it’s our responsibility as citizens to change that. We have swerved from our philosophical foundations and it is up to us to course-correct.

The constitution is based on the philosophy of the people. Politics and or politicians are supposed to work towards the fulfillment of that construct. And in the spirit of the law.

Political thought must be grounded in a philosophical view of the world and humanity. If not, political action can become chaotic, random, contradictory or - more troubling - amoral, self-serving, & corrupted.

Not all philosophy is true, and thus, it is harder to define a foundation of truth, and one may espouse what is untrue unintentionally due to misbelief. Politicians often intentionally twist the truth to suit their own, or special interest's, agenda. One may say, their 1/

As a Christian, I would add religion too, although corporate controlled Christianity has gripped many. If you look at the teachings of Christ, he teaches values that hold communities together: love, forgiveness and sacrifice. Heaven belongs to those who work for the good.
