I'm not sure there is anything to 'defeat'. This is not a war. It is simply a time of deep need to be reconnected to love. People need shining beacons of love, empathy and compassion to remind them of their deepest, greatest humanity, to bring them back into alignment with it.

Both parties in USA Politics have gone into the sewers, democratics on social media have done a million times more damage than a few Russians did. Sadly evil has entered US Politics via social media where its the norm to win votes by any means even character assassination

And, thank God for that! Trumpism as you see it is not an opponent.

When you ran for Congress, I thought you should have been running for president, but perhaps it wasn't the right time. This is a GREAT time for you to run!

Trump gave a voice to millions of Americans that didn't want to be victims, didn't want handouts, and didn't want to go unnoticed again by traditional politicians. They wanted a voice and a chance to succeed. They're also willing to put up with his flaws for that reason.
