Intellectual elites on both Left and Right should have realized that millions of people living with chronic economic despair combined with lack of proper education for too many was a prescription for fascism. Too many enjoyed the blessings of liberty without tending to its care.

Democrats have supported making education a priority for decades, and have rightfully feared results of an ignorant population. Republicans have ignored the importance of education spending in favor of an ever more massive pentagon.

You are SO right. We got lackadaisical and trusted our politicians, on both sides, too much. We all need to become much more aware and caring of what has made our country the place everyone runs to.

I just watch a documentary on MAGA country and an elderly gentleman made an excellent point. We need to talk in a rational way to people we don’t agree with and understand their position and why they feel that way. Social media has placed us in our bubbles. We need to talk!

Life liberty and Justice for all! Please push for accountability! Be the integrity this country needs. Hil'liar "wipe with a cloth" should be in prison not an elected office! We need real leadership, that honors our constitution and our natural right to defend ourselves.

I agree. However, a truly left/social plan requires a lot more intellectual effort than right-wing populism needs, with just a short-term rhetoric of fear that attracts the fearful. So the problem for the left is ALSO (but indeed not exclusively) "intellectual".
