The USA will reinstate sanctions against Iran on Monday. Just to be clear, sanctions do not hurt governments; they hurt innocent men, women & children...who among things, are then told that their misery is due to the Americans. It’s never good policy to purposefully inflict pain.

So someone told me yesterday that it is ok to use sanctions because the US government believes when it hurts the people the people will rebel against their government and that's how the sanctioned government will change. What rationale is that?
