America needs a miracle: a shift from fear to love. We need to reconcile with our history, atone for our mistakes, pay reparations for slavery etc so we can dissolve the unreconciled emotional ambivalence. If we don’t fall in love with America we won’t be able to lift it back up.

I love your work but that’s the difference between us- I never fell out of love with America.

I didn’t either, because I know the larger narrative and I’ve always seen the good as well as the bad.But too many people either never learned or can’t remember enough American history, and are left feeling more cynical than hopeful.

Yes, to simplify, you need to elect new leaders!

And this all can start November 6th 2018 the Day democracy can be saved and some since of normalcy can prevail. We gotta get out and vote to end this reign of hatred and division and try to restore some human decency before it totally goes off the rails

I do think we need to have a fairly serious discussion as a country about what healthy love is. Many of those doing atrocious things believe that they love America but they love it like someone they're obsessed with, who they can't bear to see change.

It is happening if we look for it. This division and hostility/ trump is part of the healing. It is darkest before the light? We must become the change we want to see in the world? It is our own reflection? We choose. Each of us get this choice. It challenges us to love.

I’ve been following your words of wisdom for so many years. What you so eloquently share is how I’ve worked to live my life. Hate and intolerance are exhausting. While it can be so much easier/appealing to be distracted, living with higher common purpose is our collective hope.
