Confederate flag to a black person is like a Nazi flag to a Jew; such symbols need to be removed. Confederate statues could be in a museum, replaced by winning submissions in a contest to create great contemporary art to replace them. We can respond to the past & reset the future

Or we could just leave it alone...stop being offended by everything in sight...and go on with our lives. There's that.

A life lived without principles is not that much of a life.

It's ridiculous to try to make history conform to today's standards. Use the statues as a learning tool.

What would we be learning?

You obviously are not from the south. We honor our flag under which many Americans died just as we do the American flag.

Yes I am! And that is ridiculous. Germans do not honor the Nazi flag as a way of honoring the Germans who died in World War II.

Not changing my history or my families history for people who are offended...

Having been born and raised in a state that fought with the Confederacy, I have the right to say have ridiculous that is. It does no honor to the South to make excuses for slavery, or to whitewash its history.

But, why do you think it鈥檚 ok to erase history? Our history is who we all are. You wouldn鈥檛 be you without history. If people could learn to let go and move forward there would be room for everyone to be happy.

It鈥檚 the opposite. It鈥檚 a way of honoring history to honor the facts. The Confederacy lost the war.
